Creating Momentum with Passion and Purpose
A world in which communities flourish, the most
vulnerable find agency, and India surges ahead towards
the sustainable development goals – this is the world
that we are helping create, with passion and purpose
through various initiatives of Reliance Foundation.
Set up in 2010, the mission of our Foundation is to
build an inclusive nation, address some of the most
pressing concerns, and contribute as actively as
possible towards India’s development.
At Reliance Foundation, the year was signified by
diversity – a richness of themes, thoughts, and
perspectives as we built more synergy to enhance
outcomes and align with national and global priorities.
‘We Care with Passion and Purpose’ provides an
overarching view of our impact. It shares stories of
people whose inspiring journeys of transformation have
given us greater purpose and motivation to enhance
our multiple efforts.
From the tractor-driving Nitu Nagpure who facilitated
a digital farm school for women in Balaghat, Madhya
Pradesh to Priya Bhatia, aspiring young tech student,
pursuing quality education in Haryana; from giving
wings to dreams of talented sportspersons like
Shubhangi Singh to building resilience for people in
locations vulnerable to disasters; through the years,
we are humbled to have been able to touch the lives
of over 69.5 million people across the country.
Beyond numbers, what is precious are the smiles we
strive to bring to the faces of people across the length
and breadth of India, in over 54,200 villages. Every
life we have impacted is an inspiring story of resilience,
hope and transformation. Our journey of transforming
lives spurs us to constantly reinvent innovations for the
social sector and scale up our work towards far greater
impact on people’s lives. For us, the ability to make a
difference – big or small – to touch someone’s life for
the better, is most important.
The spirit of ‘We Care’ motivates us to work towards
this vision, hand-in-hand with the government, civil
society, and communities. What inspires us is how our
innovative approaches for the development sector take
shape alongside the Reliance approach of creating
social impact with bold and unique pathways. For
instance, one of our recent initiatives in partnership
with like-minded organisations is working to bridge the
gender-digital divide. Seetu Yadav from one of our
interventions in Shahdol in Madhya Pradesh sums it
up beautifully – ‘a woman with a phone in her hand,
can achieve anything she aspires to’. It fills us with joy
