Research and Innovation
Jio Institute’s research projects and initiatives
are strategically aligned with the needs of India.
The institute recognizes the importance of conducting
research that addresses the specific challenges and
requirements of the country.
The “CVMI-Computer Vision in Medical Imaging”
project, undertaken by the Jio Institute’s Centre of AI
for All, intends to help medical practitioners make
earlier and more accurate diagnosis of diseases through
computer-aided analysis of medical imaging.
A team of students from Jio Institute created a concept
for an AI programme that can help clear the backlog of
court cases in India, and it reached the final round at
the TUP 8.0, or The Ultimate Pitch, a competition
where participants from prestigious business schools
pitch their innovative ideas.
The Jio Institute Digital Library (JDL), a
state-of-the-art learning resource centre, offers
numerous e-books, e-journals, working papers,
technical reports and of magazines and newspapers as
well as course materials.
Jio Institute Digital Library’s (JDL) Special Collections
is envisioned as an archive of content and exhibits on
various themes, including Indian art, architecture,
culture and history, built through research and
collaboration and made accessible on a technology-led
storytelling platform for a diverse group of users around
the world.
Events and Collaboration
Jio Institute facilitates collaboration and the exchange
of ideas across boundaries and industries.
1. The institute held a five-day international
workshop on ‘Designing Digitally Robust
Research Libraries for the 21st Century’ in
April 2022 in collaboration with AICTE.
5,000+ applications were received, out of which
70 were selected. In addition to this, 12 sessions
were conducted by librarians and experts.
2. The Institute held four panel discussions,
three masterclasses, a workshop and a webinar
on subjects ranging from AI and data science to
sports management and marketing. These events
received 3,128 cumulative registrations.
3. The Institute held two conferences on
‘The Next Decade in AI Business’ and
‘The Next Decade of Marketing in the
Digital Age’, which received 1,668
cumulative registrations.
4. More than 40 students from Jio Institute
participated in the X-Culture international
student collaboration project.
The students worked on actual issues faced by
businesses. Approximately 6,000 students from
140 universities across 43 countries and 6
continents participated in this.

Pandit Deendayal Energy University
Pandit Deendayal Energy University (PDEU) is on a
mission to advance academic and research excellence
in the areas of energy, health, water, and climate
change. To support this goal, the university has
established its Translational Research Centre (TREC),
a cutting-edge facility that integrates research and
innovative ideas into sustainable solutions using the
nine verticals of Industry 4.0.
With the support of the Reliance Foundation’s
endowment fund, PDEU has been able to continue
expanding its research initiatives. The university’s
scope of new Industry 4.0 verticals at the TREC
includes energy storage, advanced materials and
manufacturing, Apple Authorized Training Centers for
Education, affordable and clean energy, clean water
and sanitation, carbon capture, and sustainable
production and consumption of energy.

PDEU’s research initiatives have already made
significant strides. For example, the university
has ordered a 100 kWh energy storage platform
containing Redox Flow Batteries (RFBs) for
future energy storage. PDEU is also one of the
first indigenous providers of 3D metal printers in
India, which are used for the development of
additive manufacturing with indigenous technology
at a low cost.
Additionally, the university is establishing a 45
megawatt solar PV panel product line and has
set up a Center of Excellence in Water Treatment
and Wastewater Management. PDEU is committed
to promoting sustainable solutions and is proud to
contribute to the advancement of research in these
critical areas.
